Like millions of others, my daily commute to work to the city is always brief, enjoyable and fun. The pleasant memories of such travel have inspired this post.
This was written at midnight, when my axons are untangled and floating freely around in my skull.
Grabbing a seat come what may
Try not to sneeze on the woman there
Sneeze on my shirt and mucus now wear
Rocking and rolling the bus hits my stop
I jump up, see my smartphone drop
The cracked screen ignites my curses
Woman with child frowns as she nurses
A mumbled apology I send her way
But she is nodding, her face turned away
Footsteps clatter as I step off the bus
My ruined phone that caused such a fuss
I place in my pocket, my thoughts quite dark
I stumble to work, save time through the park
I step on some dog shit – what next?
My boss says I’m late, he sends me a text
Please, no more screw ups today
Lottery ticket! Please make my day…
